It seems Will Spears was always interested in radio, even as a kid. He was one of those kids with a cool crystal radio set and big dreams.
Later as an adult, Will formed a company, Wolf Creek Broadcasting LLC which purchased KWUF 1400 AM and KWUF 106.1 FM located in Pagosa Springs, Colorado in September of 1999.
KWUF AM 1400 had gone on-the-air in 1975 with a studio downtown and a cinder block building, transmitter and tower just south of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. A decade later a log cabin was built at the KWUF AM tower site and KWUF FM 106.1 went on-the-air. Ownership had changed hands several times over the years until Wolf Creek Broadcasting finally took over for good.
Wolf Creek Broadcasting is a member of the National Association of Broadcasters and the Colorado Broadcasting Association and the Pagosa Springs Area Chamber of Commerce.
