2220 Arts + Archives
Description
Operating as a volunteer-run community arts center, 2220 is an interdisciplinary event space that is focused on experimentation, improvisation and adventure across a broad spectrum of artists and art practices. Its calendar is curated and cooperatively programmed by roughly a dozen LA-based independent programmers and cultural nonprofits, including many that are longstanding in the city. We host concerts, readings and film series, as well as archival projects, from groups like Acropolis Cinema, Black Editions, LA Filmforum, Late Breakfast, Lightstruck, Mezzanine, Mythscience, Pehrspace, Poetic Research Bureau, Rotations, and Wild Up.
As resident programmers, some of these organizations live and operate at 2220 Beverly Blvd, and program most of their events in its rooms and on its stages. But 2220 also hosts guest programmers with series that span multiple venues in the city, and these partnerships may change and evolve from season to season. Many of our events in the 2220 Archives, including readings, talks and screenings, are free and all ages. Ticketed events in our theater and front lounge are also mindful of community accessibility and we try to keep prices affordable ($10-30) for all events.
